Rehearse coming out to a parent or friend

Coming out is one of the highest-stakes conversations there is. You can't un-say it, you can't fully predict the response, and the reply replays in your head for years. Startover gives you a sandbox to find your wording in.

Who this is for

For LGBTQ+ people preparing to come out to a parent, family member, religious community, or close friend. For anyone preparing to share something about themselves that they think might land badly. For people who already came out and need to practice the follow-up.

How Startover helps

Distill the person from real chat history (or 14 questions). The persona will respond the way they probably actually respond — not a worst-case caricature, not a wishful best-case. Rehearse opening lines, watch the response, try a different opening, watch a different response. The reflection afterwards summarizes what worked and what to soften.

Find your words

Free during beta. Everything is private. Personas are deleted whenever you say so.

Common questions

Will the AI be biased against me?

No. Startover models the *specific* person you're distilling — based on how they actually talk to you. It does not impose a stereotype. If your real-life parent is supportive, the persona reflects that; if they're difficult, the persona reflects that too.

What if I don't have a chat history with them?

Use Baimiao. 14 questions about how they talk, what they care about, what they say when they're uncomfortable. The persona will be sketched from your memory.

Is this a substitute for talking to a real friend or counselor first?

No. Startover is a rehearsal tool. If you have access to a counselor, peer-support group, or trusted friend, those are valuable parts of preparing too.
