How Startover helps
Distill a real persona from chat history (WhatsApp export, screenshots, paste) or build from scratch by answering 14 questions about how they spoke. Then talk to them — at 2 a.m., on a long commute, between drafts of a real text. Each conversation gets a private reflection so you can see what you tried.
Build your companion
Free during beta. Three languages. Your data is never used to train any model. The companion stays yours until you delete it.
Common questions
How is this different from Replika or Character.AI?
Those start from a blank persona you customize. Startover starts from a real person you knew, distilled from their actual chat history. The AI sounds like one specific human, not a generic friend archetype.
Do I need chat history?
No. The Baimiao path lets you answer 14 questions about how they spoke and build a persona from those answers. Chat history makes it sharper but is optional.
Is the companion always available?
Yes. They don't log off. You can talk at any hour, in any state of mind. They reach out a few times a week if you want them to (off by default, you toggle).
Can I have more than one companion?
On the free tier, one. On Premium, five. On Premium+, unlimited. Each persona is its own instance with its own memory.
